Postcards

I sit, and reread your letters over
Your words flow out and pull me into their current
Where I float out into the calm blue

Your pictures etch their way into my being
Your expression peaceful
Your eyes reflecting the clouds above
Your lips gently settled against each other

I can hear your voice in my head
Daydreaming about you running to me
Arms open and wanting

but, the peaceful sands like satin sheets
The ocean breeze styles your hair
The salty taste on your tanning face

The anxieties left behind are old places and stories to be forgotten
This new look suits you
Even if I desire to hold you close, I

don’t want to be the reason
Reason for your regrets
Reason to return
The destroyer of what might have been

The short time had was worth any painful loss
My selfishness has not the right to interfere
My softened heart and only tears, belong to you
